I've been using this for years and it is still a staple in my nutrition. Although I am working on reducing the amount of lactate in my diet, I am still using this for quality and price. Highly recommended.

Optimum Nutrition really has set the bar high for a general - all around protein for anyone to take. At the cost to serving ratio, they are consistently at the top of the charts, providing an average of 70 scoop servings per 5 pound bottle. At 24 grams of protein per 32 gram serving, you know you are getting a majority of protein instead of some cheap filler. Overall, the gold standard whey proves to be a winner time and time again. From my own experiences, the chocolate variants of flavor are probably the safest bet if you have never tried this before. They are very flavorful and mix well in just about any bottle imaginable. On top of all of this, these are found everywhere now days! Highly recommended starter and maintenance protein for all!

I won a free tub of Optimum Nutrition Whey during one of substance reviews giveaways. It was my 3rd protein powder, after Mts Whey and Body Fortress. When I first opened the tub, i thought the smell was disgusting and had a very big doubt that I was going to enjoy the flavor. I put a scoop into my shaker with some milk and to my surprise it mixes great! No clumps or anything. Also to my suprise it tasted pretty decent. I was able to drink it without feeling i had to gag. It has a very good ingredient/amino acid profile and defiantly aids in recovery and overall meeting daily protein requirements. It has approximately 24g of protein per rounded scoop and has 73 servings in a 5lb tub. It is kinda costly pricing around 55$ on bodybuilding.com for a 5lb tub. I will defiantly buy another tub of this brand as i am a couple days away from finishing the one I have. This is a great protein powder and defiantly worth buying.

Optimum Nutrition never ceases to perform above expectations. The flavor of the product that I tried was Vanilla Ice Cream. The powder mixed very well with only a few small clumps. The taste was great and it was the best tasting protein powder that I have tried so far. While I was using the protein daily I experienced a significant increase in muscle gains. The time it took for me to recover was notably reduced while using this protein. The ingredients are top notch and included added ingredients such as amino acids. There are very few carbs in the product as well with only three grams per serving. The only gripe that I have is that while using this product I experienced an increase in acne. I would definitely recommend this product if you want a protein powder that is of quality and actually works.

This is hands down my favourite protein shake. It has incredible taste. Taste is a huge thing for me when purchasing protein shake, Ive tried other top brands of protein shake and they usually make me gag since they were really viscous + horrible tasting. This is very easily drinkable as the particles break down with a breeze just by a few stirs, no shaker ball needed.

1-2 scoops post workout depending on the size of beast you are.

-TASTE:

I only buy extreme chocolate milk and mix it with 2 cups of milk. Taste epic. At first I was hesitant in buying this flavour, since drinking chocolate milk post workout could be a really rich and nauseating feeling, totally not the case, my taste buds welcomed it with open arms.

[TL;DR} Theres a beast in every man, and it stirs when you put gold standard whey in his hands

100% Gold Standard Whey from Optimum Nutrition is a terrific product both economically and performance wise. This is a great tasting whey protein with 24g of pure protein and only 1g fat and 3g carbs per serve, it is also full of excellent quality BCAA's, these factors make the product ideal for somebody aiming to stay lean while putting on lean mass. I took 100% Gold Standard Whey for close to 3 months before my supply ran out :( , it mixes perfectly and is easy on the stomach, helping you to perform without feeling weighed down. I noticed no negative side effects from this product and the positives were increased energy, recovery and consistent muscle gain. The price is reasonable considering the quality and I would recommend trying this product!

Finding a good protein can sometimes be hard, some taste bad, some have bad profile, some are filled with glycine and taurine that you don't want in your protein mix. Optimum Nutrition did good in their 100% Whey, the profile is nice and isn't filled with junk. I tried the Extreme Milk Chocolate flavor and it tasted really good, without the need of artificial sweeteners. The low carbohydrate content (4g) and the fact that it only has 1g of sugar makes this an ideal protein for those trying to cut down weight on a low carb diet. With 24g of protein for 120 calories, the 100% Whey protein is a good source to help you get your daily protein intact without having fear of consuming too many calories. I have used it in milk and water, both mix very well and wont leave many chunks in your shaker cup as long as you give it a good shaking before using. Overall, I would recommend this protein to anyone, the cost per serving is pretty low and you get great quality product.

Although the price is more expensive then most whey proteins on the market, Optimum Nutrition's 100 % whey has always been my go to protein source. I usually stick with buying the chocolate flavored mixes since the taste of them are bar to none the best on the market. Whether you mix the whey with water or milk you can not deny it tastes great which is nice to have with a whey protein (especially when cutting weight). The mixibility is instant and you do not need to spend minutes shaking your bottle to get rid of the clumps like most protein powders, it's also very smooth not heavy & thick. The amino acid profile is great for recovery, fat loss & muscle gain. I definitely recommend this product to anyone who hates the taste of cheap whey. ON 100% Whey has always been & always will be the best whey protein on the market.

The product I reviewed is ON gold standart 100% whey, Mocha Cappucino Flavor.

I mixed It with milk, It mixes O.K (a bit of powder residue on the side of the shaker sometimes) but Overall it mixes alright. The taste on the other hand is amazing. With milk It taste similar to a starbucks frappucino or a Tim Hortons Iced cappucino. Perfect balance between sweet and unsweetned.

The product itself is protein, So I can't speak over muscle/strenght gain, it is just a food supplement.

DELICIOUS STRAWBERRY:
What a disappointment - after tasting this, I was considering suing ON for false advertisement, as this whey is nowhere near "Delicious." Sickly sweet in whatever substance you mix it with, this was possibly the worst-tasting whey I've ever experienced. A truly unpleasant experience, the saving grace of this flavor is that it has fewer grams of fat and carbs than most others. Would not buy again, actually planning on returning this.

CHOCOLATE MINT:
After several disappointing experiences with ON, I was beginning to wonder what the big deal was about, as everyone seems to regard Optimum as the Holy Grail of whey. However, after tasting the Chocolate Mint, all of the hype seems justified. If I were forced to use only one flavor of whey for the rest of my days, this would be it. Two full rich flavors, neither overpowering the other, a great combination - quite reminiscent of Andes mints. Low carb and low fat as well, no complaints here, other than the price, but you do get what you pay for, the 5lb is a great buy.

STRAWBERRY BANANA:

If only the flavoring here had been used in the Delicious Strawberry, that flavor would have been a winner. The sweetness is toned down here and works well with the banana. This has a hint of candy-like sweetness but not much, and it ends up tasting a bit creamy, more than you'd expect from just a whey blend with minimal carbohydrates and fat. A nice change of pace, but you don't get sick of it instantly.

This is a great overall whey, i have been through 15lbs so far. noth the chocolate and mint chocolate taste pretty good, maybe not the best tasting whey on the market but certaintly good enough for the price. with a good ingredient profile and a great value, optium nutrition 100% whey is a great choice for newcomers and vetrans alike

I had heard a lot of great things about ON Whey, and a rep told me that Rocky Road was one of the most popular flavors. After tasting it, I'm not sure why - at first I was repulsed, but it grew on me a little bit. Very artificial tasting, not quite chocolate and not quite marshmallow. It wasn't too bad, though, and it mixed well with water, milk and oats, and has a pretty solid nutritional profile. Biggest turn off is the price - there are cheaper, better tasting whey products out there.

Protein powders are supplements, and nothing more - to think that a protein will have a significant effect on your strength gains is silly. At any rate, ON makes a quality whey protein that can help with recovery and shuttling protein to your muscles post work out, which I think is the best time to use a product such as this. If used in this capacity, ON's Gold Standard is the king of cost effective, working proteins.

Cheap price, good ingredient profile, no side effects (it's protein powder, with enzyme blend, shouldn't have trouble with digestion), helps to prevent catabolism PWO, and has a great ingredient profile with primary source being whey protein isolate, which digests faster than concentrate and thus can help enter your muscles faster. In all this is a solid protein and one I will use for a while, when cost is a factor.

Listen, this is hands down the best protein blend on the market. I have used three flavors. Double-rich chocolate is the best. It tastes just like a chocloate milk shake. You cannot even tell that you are drinking protein. Vanilla is great, too, and mixes well with fruit added to it. I was not a big fan of strawberry-banana. It tasted similar to Pepto-Bismol. It mixes well, tastes great, and is nice and thick, even in water. It has an excellent ingredient profile. I did not experience any bloating or gas, which is unusual for a protein blend. I also enjoy that it is low in sugar, fat, and cholesterol. The good thing about ON is that there are so many flavors that virtually everyone can find something that they like.

I have tried many different flavors of this protein just to name a few: strawberry, banana, strawberry banana, chocolate, chocolate mint, vanilla, rocky road, etc. All the flavors have tasted great and ive used somewhere in the area of about 50 pounds of this protein to date. It is by far my favorite tasting protein and will always be a staple in my supplements. I have heard many people have digestive problems after using this product but i believe this is only due to lactose intolerance. Personally i have had no issues with digestion of this product at all. Only problem i have ever had was with the packaging of one of the 10 pound bags ripping a bit. I lost about 5 scoops worth of protein while transfering it over to some old 5 pound containers and notified ON about this problem, they promptly sent out 10 one scoop packets to me to remedy situation. again very pleased with this company and this product!

How to not review this Whey protein, basically the most popular one who almost every one has take it before. I remember those days when ON Whey was a cheap common brand like any other but from nothing, Optimum jumped to be one of the best and won the BB.com Best Protein title and that gave it some edge, now Optimum must be a staple.

Mixability: 10/10 I never had ANY problem with mixability, its one of the few Whey proteins that i can mix as said in the label, with a spoon and glass and just stir it. Consistency its liquid due to the fact that there is Isolate as primary rather than any other kind of protein.

Ingredient Profile: 10/10 For a Whey blend, its the best i've seen, its low carb with 24g of protein, which is a high amount taking in fact that its an Isolate-Concentrate blend, with only 120 cals aprox.

Taste: 8/10 Almost all their flavors are good, maybe there are some that arent such good as others but all are decent. My favorite by far is Rocky Road, a bit sweet for many.

Price: 9/10 All whey prices gone up, there's nothing that we can do about it, so taking care about all the prices at the moment, the one with ON its one of the best because of its quality ingredient profile.

Highly recommend it, a staple Whey protein, for whether cutting or bulking or just to reach protein daily intake.

I bought the Vanilla Ice Cream flavor of this protein, and it was pretty good. The vanilla flavor wasn’t very strong, but I enjoyed that as it wouldn’t overpower other flavors I would add into shakes like fruit, etc. If you shake or blend this product it mixes like a dream, it will mix well stirring, but takes a little more effort. It’s a great protein source for any person with any goal really, IMO. The amount of servings you get makes this product very economical. $75 dollars for 160 servings at 24g protein each is a great deal! The serving size is quite small though (not much powder) so it wouldn’t probably be the best for a meal replacement or something like that. I found it tasted best with less liquid, so the amount would not be enough for me to not be hungry (if that were my goal). IMO, ON has high quality and tasty product here, for a great price. Definitely worth the try, will likely become a staple.

Ah yes, the famous ON 100% Whey. I've tried many different protein powders, so my review is not that of some supplement newbie who has just snatched this up and declared its supremacy over the wheys untested. With that being said...

Taste - I've tried all the basic flavors. Vanilla Ice Cream tasted like complete and utter crap. Rocky Road was decent and had a nice texture. Strawberry was actually quite good, probably the best of the lot which I've tried. Chocolate was nothing out of the ordinary.

I'll give credit where credit is due here. ON has an amazing variety of flavors available (see www.bodybuilding.com). I'd say ON rivals Cytosport's Muscle Milk as far as flavor variety goes. The variety alone gives this a higher score in the 'taste' category.

Ease of Mixing - This behaves as you would come to expect from a protein based primarily off of isolate. No worries about clumping or anything of that sort here. Milk and water solubility are both good.

Value - Once hailed as the king of budget proteins, ON Whey has plummeted to the Nitrotech value level. In addition to the most recent price hikes due to increased raw cost, ON also has further price hikes planned to take full advantage of their tremendous following. Yes, this makes sense from a business standpoint, but it is an insult to the same budget-minded consumers responsible for the great success of this product.

On a positive note, ON is a solid company quality-wise, and will likely continue with its high quality standards. This protein also has a very good nutrition profile.

In summary, this protein is simply not worth buying given its relatively poor value. The variety of flavors is certainly tantalizing, but a little more money will also buy you a quality pure isolate. Just like any supplement, it's important to ignore the hype and actually analyze the value of the product.

When it comes to whey protein, Optimum Nutrition is one of the leaders. 100% Gold Standard Whey is a remarkable product. I can not stress enough the importance of whey protein. Whey protein builds muscle and is new gaining fame as a vasodilator. Enough of the small talk because its time for a review breakdown:

Profile: I am loving the profile listing mainly because of the 24 gram protein blend. It consists of Whey Protein Isolates, Whey Protein Concentrate, and Whey Peptides. These fast-release proteins help in muscle growth and recovery. Aminogen is known to aid in digestion. It also contains 5.5 grams of BCAA which lessens fatigue. 4 grams of Glutamine and Precursors help in muscle protection.

Mixing: Mixing should be should be done in a blender or shaker cup. It is instantized and only little clumps remain in the mixture.

Taste: I am currently using a container of Vanilla Ice Cream and its pretty decent. It taste okay, but nothing out of this world. I received a sample of Chocolate Malt flavor and was blown away. It taste like my favorite childhood candy called Whoopers.

Price: ON sells 2 lbs for $36.00, but you can get it around the low to mid 20 dollar range.

Overall: This product is wonderful.
